It took two years and 40,124 miles but the result is the most comprehensive Kansas guidebook on the market!

People who love backroads and out-of-the-way places will find this book to be a treasure trove of information.

Those who want direction to attractions in large cities will find it in this book, too. There are 672 restaurants, cafes and soda fountains listed!
How it Happened:

Marci Penner traveled to every one of the 627 incorporated towns in the state and many unincorporated towns to do research for this Kansas guidebook. The result is a 432-page book with 400+ color photos and 3,597 entries.

The guidebook is a project of the Kansas Sampler Foundation. It was written to help further the mission of the foundation which is to preserve and sustain rural culture.

What's in the book:

The spiral-bound book is laid out in six regions. For instance, Concordia attractions are found under Cloud County in the North Central region. Wamego attractions are under Pottawatomie County in the Northeast region. An extensive index will help you find attractions in any city.

The architecture, art, commerce, cuisine, customs, geography, history, and people were considered in every town. Not every town has a listing in the book but every town was considered and visited.
